Get to know Rachel

I have always loved babies and taking care of others. When I was ready to get pregnant and become a mom, I started reading and learning about pregnancy and birth I fell in love with all of it. After having my daughter in 2015, and having a birth doula present, I became very interested in pursuing this line of work. I started to consider it seriously in 2017 and looked into coursework and DONA certification, but then hit a snag when I realized that conceiving another child wasn't going the way that I hoped. "Unexplained secondary infertility." I put my doula plans on hold because I didn't think I could be an effective birth doula when my heart ached so badly for something I wasn't sure I would be able to do again and didn't want to expose myself to the constant reminder of my sadness.

While eventually pregnant with my son, I was asked to support a birth in early 2020. Other than my own, I had never been present for a birth before and that experience was so special. I was 20 weeks pregnant myself, I was tired, there were unexpected challenges, and I physically and emotionally worked harder and longer to help get that baby earth side than I did my own daughter. Yet, it was still an inspiring and miraculous thing to be a part of; I was assured that this line of work was something I would love.

My first career was as a civil engineer in construction, design, and project controls. While I enjoyed many aspects of that adventure for more than 13 years, my true passion is caring for others. My first step towards this passion was becoming a full-time mom in January 2022 to my then 18month old son and kindergarten aged daughter. As I continue to care for my own family, I look forward to finding ways to care for you and your growing family.

Auntie's Day Camp

While I am not available for child care hire, it is an important part of who I am and what I am doing with my time these days. In addition to my own children, I also provide daytime care for my niece 3-4 days per week. She is two months younger than my son. It is an honor to be trusted to care for other people's children.
